Sufi Whirling

Sufi Whirling is one of the oldest and effective method. This method can let you go in such a depth that a single experience of it can change you completely. Stand at one place and start rotating yourself like children do. Feel that your whole body is like a wheel and it is rotating around one axis.


Some points need to be discussed about the Whirling Meditation

You should not eat or drink anything before three hours starting this whirling meditation. Be bare footed while doing this meditation and it is good to wear loose clothes.

This meditation is divided into two phases. Rotating and relaxing. There is no time limit set for rotating and it can be done for hours. It is recommended to rotate for at least an hour so that you can experience to mingle with great energy. The process of rotating is done in the anticlockwise direction. Lift your right hand and keep your palm facing towards the sky and keep your left hand low nearly equal to the height of your waist and keep it facing down. People who do not feel comfortable rotating in the anticlockwise direction can rotate in the clockwise direction. Keep your body relaxed and do rotation process with your eyes open.

First phase of Whirling Meditation Osho Rajneesh

Rotate for fifteen minutes with a slow pace. In the next thirty minutes, keep increasing your pace slowly till you get the maximum speed. You will start feeling yourself as a whirl of energy.

Second Phase of Whirling Meditation Osho Rajneesh

When you are rotating so fast, a situation will come when you will not be able to stand more and your body will want to fall. Do not decide yourself to fall and do not make an arrangement to make your body fall. If, your body is relaxed enough then the falling process will happen automatically without any conflict. The earth will take your energy when you will fall on the earth.

When you fall, the second phase of the meditation will begin. Lay down on your stomach so that your navel can touch earth. If, you feel uncomfortable laying in this posture then lay down on your back. Let your body to melt with the earth like a small child hugs his or her mother. Keep yourself in this feeling and just relax for fifteen minutes at least.

If, you feel vomiting sensations or uneasiness while doing this meditation then do not do this meditation. If you do it regularly, you may feel comfortable after two or three days but if you are experiencing the same uneasiness and discomfort then stop doing it for sure.
