I am going to translate here youtube video of Osho Rajneesh from Hindi to English. I am not a linguist. I am pretty sure that I will be able to convey the overall message given in the video. It is obvious that listening to him directly is totally a different experience.

In this video, Osho gave the reference of Alexander. He tried to give his message through a story but he did not mean that this story did happen in the past. We all understand that he intentionally uses some names just to convey his message in a proper way. Here is the video and the translation.





Title: Freedom from the past and the future

[0:00-1:43] Great Alexander came to India. He saw a glittering object in the hands of a saint. He asked the saint what it is. The saint replied, I would not tell you. Actually, I would not be able to tell you because this secret is not supposed to be revealed. But Alexander forced him, he told him that he did not learn to get defeated in his life. I am supposed to know about it. Then, the saint replied that I can tell you one thing that your whole wealth has lesser weight than this small thing. Alexander immediately called for a large scale machine and whatever he had acquired in the robberies was placed on one side of the scale and the saint placed that small thing on the other side of the scale.

[1:43-2:54] Immediately, the saint's side went down and the Alexander's side rose high in the sky as if it was empty. Alexander went shocked watching such an incident. Alexander bowed himself in front of the saint and asked him to reveal the secret at any cost. Saint told him that it is very difficult to reveal the secret. It cannot be said that is why I am not saying it. But you threw yourself to my feet. So, I can tell you one more thing. The saint took a pinch of dirt and sprinkled on that shinny small thing. Then, don't know what happened, the side of the small object became lighter and started rising upwards where, the side of the Alexander went down.


[2:55:3:52] It left Alexander even in more amazement. He asked what is happening out here? You are making this puzzle even more complex and difficult. I want to say straight now that if you want to tell me the secret then you can otherwise, it is fine. The saint replied that now I can tell the secret because you seem to be filled with desire of knowing. Now, you are not forcing me to reveal the secret. This is not a special thing. It is a human eye. If, dirt comes in eye then it is worthless but if it is free of dirt then there is nothing worthy than it, it is even more worthy than the whole wealth of the earth.

[3:53-5:26] Enlightenment means your inner eye. There is not a much difficulty at all. There is some dirt of dreams present. Even this dirt is not a real dirt, it is dirt of thoughts, imaginations and desires. Dirt is not even a bit real, it is just like a smoke but this smoke has covered your inner eye. Like clouds cover the sun. If, clouds go away and sun appears, it is the only meaning of enlightenment. You are sun, The Buddhahood is your nature but you have accumulated lots of clouds of imaginations and desires around you. These clouds have no significance. These clouds did not get fulfilled and will not get fulfilled. You are surrounded with the stuff which is not present and never will be but you are missing something that is present and ever will be.

[5:26-7:21] Enlightenment means living in what is, seeing what really is and getting attached to what is present and to lose whatever is not present. Past is not present and we are bounded with the past. Past has passed and we have kept it with such a care like somebody would keep his wealth. Past is an ash which does not even have a spark. Everything had extinguished. We are lifting our past like the dead corpses or we are surrounded with the desires of the future. We are Sheikh Chilli, thinking this and that should happen. You are continuously spreading your dreams. And between these two non existential parts (past which is not anymore and future which has not happened yet), the small frajavascript:void(0)gment of the present is getting ruined. In between these two parts, your existence is getting ruined. Enlightened is one who is free from the past and the future. He would open his inner eye. Dirt would not present in his eye.
